We invite you to come and try Mount Kilimanjaro trekking for yourself. Experience the pride of making it to the top of Kilimanjaro, and the feeling of freedom you get when standing on the top of the world!

KILIMANJARO TIPS

Another reason why Mount Kilimanjaro trekking is so popular is that this mountain can be climbed all year round. Its location, close to the equator, means that you won’t find the typical four seasons that you may be used to at home. There are only two seasons here: rainy and dry season. While trekking is possible throughout the year, the rainy seasons, from March to May and again from November to December, are not the ideal times to conquer this mountain. Paths to the summit can be slippery so any trekkers should be well prepared with the proper equipment.

The best months for Mount Kilimanjaro trekking are August and September, and January and February.

MERU TREKKING

A dormant volcano that reaches 4,561 meters above sea level, Mount Meru lies within the Arusha National Park, which also contains the Ngurdoto Crater and the Momella lakes. Tanzania’s second-highest mountain, Mount Meru is arguably a more complex trek than Mount Kilimanjaro, although it is often seen as a preparation trek for ‘the big one’.

The climb passes through different vegetation zones – from dry forest at the base, through dense rainforest, and then to scrub. Closer to the summit, vegetation gives way to typical Alpine terrain. During the trek, you can expect to encounter not only giraffes, Colobus monkeys and antelopes, but also buffaloes and baboons, therefore an armed park ranger must accompany you. The route will allow you to take in the landscapes, but be aware that the climb will challenge your physical abilities, so whilst the climb does not require any special skills, you do need to be fit.

As the elevation increases, you will fully appreciate the magnificent panoramas as they unfold, with Mount Kilimanjaro visible 70km in the distance. And reaching the summit is an an experience you are never likely to forget.

Your trek will take place over a number of days and we will provide all the necessary support personnel – porters, cooks and guides – and equipment.
